New York City 1985 Video Clips. Duration : 3.27 Mins.
A super-8 time trip! Lovingly restored home movie footage of my trip to NYC in spring '85. Thought I'd throw in some stupid music to match the frantic pace, too. There'll be more soon! Here's some background, if you're interested... I was on a roadtrip with some college classmates to NYC for some seminars or something. I was a film 101 student, so I brought a movie camera along with just one reel of film. We had 2 days in the city, staying at a hotel near Penn Station., and I managed to slip out Saturday to see and film the Big Apple! Realizing I had only 3 minutes of film, I thought I'd try to cram as much stuff in as I can. I went to Penn Station and found the A Train. Recalling a Glen Miller song, I rode that up 125th St.. I got out of the station and was going to film, when I realized there sure were alot of empty houses, stripped cars, and needles lying around. Got back to the station and rode to somewhere around central park. Most of the footage is between there and the UN building, where I somehow ran into my friends (this was before cell phones!). We toured the UN and stuff, ending up at the World Trade Center around 6 pm or so... Too dark for home movie film to see anything, so I have no footage of WTC or the awesome view. The statue and teddy bear were filmed out near the hotel the next morning, using up the film.
